Vision and Values

Our Ranzau ‘Explorers’ represent our vision, the knowledge, skills and values that represent learning at Ranzau. It guides our mission to ensure that all of our ‘Explorers’ are empowered and inspired to SHINE both now and in the future.

Through Inspiring Possibilities akōnga will be Empowered to leave Ranzau as: Inquiring Learners who are Responsible Community Members and are Competent in Communication & Numeracy and Active and Creative. Please refer to our shared understanding of these terms on this page.

To be inquiring learners, children will:

• competently use the Ranzau learning process to support all areas of learning
• show competence in learner qualities
• use creative and critical thinking in problem solving and learning
• use feedback to improve their learning
• Make informed decisions about their learning

To be competent in communication, children will:

• read a variety of texts to gain understanding
• write competently in a range of styles
• speak confidently in a variety of situations      
• listen effectively

To be competent in numeracy, children will:

• use appropriate mathematical strategies
• have an adequate number knowledge to support learning
• competently recall basic facts
• problem solve with logical and reasoned thinking

To be active and creative, children will:

• actively participate and develop skills in the performing arts
• develop skills to create visual arts
• display a positive attitude towards sport and recreation
• develop confidence and skills in PE and sport
